What a surprise this wedding was. As we walked in to Film Vicky & Wayne’s Wedding Video at The Old Thorns Golf & Country Club in Liphook, it was like falling down the rabbit hole into alice in wonderland. The foyer was filled with giant african wooden sculptures made from driftwood and looking mightily impressive. In every corner that you looked the walls were littered with large black and white photos of vintage hollywood stars, Marilyn monroe, Frank Sinatra, Elvis to name but a few.
We made our way to meet Wayne with his groomsmen and were very impressed with the top hat & tails accompanied with a cane, very fitting for the reception venue The Gatsby Ballroom which very much lived up to its name. Huge glittering pendant chandeliers, a decadent black and white tiled floor and a huge art deco bar surrounded by a cascade of mirrors.
The morning was a very lovely affair, with the young girls singing and dancing in the rooms, filling the time with lots of laughter whilst Vicky was being pampered.
Whilst the dress was going on the guests piled into the hotel and into the most incredible sports bar I have ever seen. Not only was there a babble of tv screens playing everything you could think of but there was ginormous life like replica of a Transformer and Iron Man, it certainly impressed the men in the wedding party.
The wedding ceremony took place in the oak filled chapel which followed on from the delectable corridors lined with sparkling lanterns. Everyone was very emotional and left a warm feeling in the room. My favourite part of the day is when Vicky’s gentle Grandad turns to Wayne, nervously waiting at the end of the aisle, and says “I know you'll look after her” .. wayne responds "I will promise to look after her and you know she thinks the world of you”. Completely heartwarming. What a special memory that we captured.
As if this day could get any better.. the couple shoot was beyond exciting. We all crammed onto a golf buggy, driven by the crazy but amazing wedding planner who sped with gusto up hills and around bends, (if formula one was on golf buggies!). From what initially looked like a quite standard golf course to begin with, it quickly dawned on us, this is NOT ordinary in any shape or form. The views were breathtaking and we weren't expecting it! The tenth tee, looks down onto the most spectacular line of pine trees and seemed to go on for miles, it was so romantic seeing Vicky & Wayne’s love for each other beam out filling that view, but they totally stole that view from us, as I couldn’t stop watching them, a truly loving couple who will flourish in married life.
