Tell us about where and when you first both first met and What were your first impressions of each other when you first met?
We met on MySpace when we were 14 and 16 and I (Lottie) thought Sam was the coolest person ever because he was older and used to send me messages at 2 in the morning (on a school night!) We met in person a few times before Sam asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest is history!
Tell us about who proposed to who and where did it happen?
Sam proposed in Montenegro - the destination was a surprise and he booked the most amazing boutique hotel with views over a beautiful town called Perast. He proposed on a private yacht in a secluded bay with incredible mountain views before we continued sailing and celebrating with lots of champagne. It could not have been any more special.
Give us three words each to describe each other and what they mean to you?
Bride (from Sam): beautiful, kind, organised
Groom (from Lottie): driven, caring, my world!
How did you find and choose your wedding venue, Cripps Barn the Cotswolds?
We had seen pictures of someone getting married at Cripps Barn in the winter and it looked incredible. As soon as we saw the venue in person and met the staff, we knew it was absolutely perfect for what we wanted and booked it straight away!
Tell us about your wedding dress; the designer, how long it took you to find the one featured in your wedding video filmed by West Sussex Videographers?
My wedding dress was by Aire Barcelona from a lovely shop in Buckinghamshire called White Lace and Butterflies - they ordered it in especially for me after I had tried on a similar dress that wasn’t quite right. I absolutely loved it and have never felt more beautiful!
Tell us about what the Groomsmen wore featured in your wedding video filmed by West Sussex Videographers?
To match the navy blue dresses of the bridesmaids, Sam chose to have navy ties for the groomsmen, and a navy bow tie for himself. All the groomsmen wore the same charcoal grey tweed herringbone 3-piece suit, with a vintage look waistcoat. On the wedding morning, Sam gave them all cufflinks to wear in the shape of a country that they had visited with him for a personal touch!
Sam's Vows
Lottie,
I can’t promise to never make mistakes or to always have all the answers. But I know that whatever life throws at us, we will find a way through it together.
I promise to always strive to put a smile on your face, to put your happiness above mine, and to respect and support you, forever.
I promise to be your best friend, to always be kind, and to always remove the unwanted citrus fruit from your drinks.
I promise to love you as much as I always have and more.
Lottie’s Vows:
Sam,
I can’t promise to never get angry at you for working late or to take things out on you when life feels stressful. I think you know by now that those things are part of a package deal.
But I can promise to be your best friend, to be understanding and supportive and to try my best to make you as happy as you make me.
I promise to stand by your side through thick and thin, forever.
And I promise to always dance with you in the kitchen, even when we are grey and old.
I promise to love you as much as I always have and more.
Did you have any readings and if so, why did you pick them featured in your wedding video filmed by West Sussex Videographers?
Yes - Union by Robert Fulghum which we fell in love with as soon as we read out loud (and may have shed a few tears over!) and a short Winnie The Pooh reading. They were read by our sisters which was really special.
Tell us about the finishing touches like favours, sweet carts etc & name any suppliers & companies, featured in your wedding video filmed by West Sussex Videographers, that helped make your perfect wedding day come true:
Venue & Food - Cripps Barn (they could not have been any more amazing both during planning and on the day - everyone has said it’s the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding!)
Photographer - The Wild Bride (incredibly talented and kind couple)
Hair & Make-up Artist - Lauren Wheeler
DJ - i.am.Will
Band - Damson Sky Duo
Florist - Go Wild Flowers
Wedding Cake - Laura Urschel
Rings - Savvy + Sand
Invites & Stationery - Retropress
We also loved our personalised wooden signs and table numbers by Little Stag Signs - they added a special touch to the decor.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day featured in your wedding video at Cripps Barn, the Cotswolds?
When we had a private first dance as the guests took their seats for dinner. Damson Sky Duo played 'Just You & I' by Tom Walker and we danced in front of the fire just the two of us. It was magical and a moment we will never forget.
We also loved doing our speeches and we did a bride reveal before our ceremony which felt so special and we are so happy that we got to share a moment together before we became husband and wife!
Were there any funny moments that you will always remember in your wedding video at Cripps Barn, the Cotswolds?
Getting mad at Sam for not looking at me as we did our exit walk from the ceremony ha ha - he was too busy greeting guests! Doing the smoke bombs outside in the freezing cold with our bridesmaids and ushers, and falling over on top of each other on the dance floor during the final song at 1am!
Why did you choose us, Ground Films, West Sussex videographers to film your wedding and what did you think of your experience being filmed?
We had looked at your teaser trailers on social media and thought they were very unique and emotional (when you’re crying at weddings where you don’t even know the people, you know the videographers are good!)
The experience of our wedding being filmed was amazing - it didn’t feel intrusive or too hectic having two extra people. James and Connie were brilliant with the bridal party in the morning - very calming to be around and I really enjoyed having them there. They did a fantastic job of capturing all of the special moments at our venue without even noticing that there were cameras around!
Any advice for future wedding couples thinking about having their special day filmed by Ground Films, West Sussex videographers?
Do it! The only thing you will regret is not being able to look back at, and re-live, your wedding day!
