Hannah & James's wedding at The Cowsheds | West Sussex Wedding Videographers
We met on the first day of uni back in 2007! We were both studying Architecture and were put in the same studio along with George (best man at our wedding). James' first memory of me, I was standing up organising everyone into groups, not alot has changed! When I met James my first impression was that he was kind and funny, a true gent! Tell us about who proposed to who and where did it happen? James proposed to me on his 29th birthday on Rainbow Bridge in Oxford, the place where it all started for us. His birthday is significant as 10 years prior to this on a night out (out out!) we both realised we liked each other, we were just 19! He proposed with an incredibly sweet and thoughtful poem of our journey to that date, referencing our move to London, qualifying together as architects and even including our DIY disasters and our lovely cat Ralph. It was a day we will never forget. Give us three words each to describe each other and what they mean to you? Bride: James is so thoughtful, funny and kind. He has always amazed me with his thoughtfulness and ability to put a smile on my face by making me laugh. He's my best friend and I hope nothing changes as we grow old together. Groom: Hannah is so loving, considerate and always caring. No matter what she does she always thinks about others first. How did you find and choose your wedding venue, The Cowsheds, Codsall? We got married in the church where Hannahs parents were married 37 years ago. For the reception, we had looked at several online, nothing took our fancy. One day we stumbled across the The Cowshed whilst looking for a new house in the area. It was the first and only venue we viewed, it was exactly what we were looking for: a DIY venue where we could customise everything to exactly how we wanted it. Tell us about your wedding dress; the designer, how long it took you to find the one featured in your wedding video by West Sussex Videographers? My wedding dress was designed by Charlotte Balbier and I found it at La Couture Bridal Boutique in Blakedown. I had been to Worcester dress shopping with my mom a month or so prior to finding the one and had tried on about 20 dresses, but none I really loved. I had planned a day out with all my bridesmaids and mom a month or so later, not expecting to find the dress but much to my surprise, I did! It was the first dress I tried on and after trying about 10 others nothing compared so after a second try on, that was it! Tell us about what the Groomsmen wore featured in your wedding video by West Sussex Videographers? The groomsmen wore a navy morning suit with a double breasted grey waistcoat. James wore a Ted Baker tie and pocket square so that he stood out as the Groom and treated himself to a tailor made pin collar shirt with gold tie pin and tie clip. Was there any surprises? Tell us more.. I surprised James with a 'see you at the altar' cookie on the morning of the wedding and we booked an unlimited vintage icecream van for the evening guests to indulge on! Did you have any readings featured in your wedding video by West Sussex Videographers and if so, why did you pick them? We asked James' sister Lisa to pick the religious reading and our good friend Trev, who has a masters in poetry, to write a poem for our big day. Lisa chose a less known reading, Colossians 3:12-14, a lovely piece that focuses on the importance kindness, compassion and patience. Buildings, composed and read by Trev was very special, a beautiful reading so suited to our jobs as Architects and how we met. It was an emotional moment when we heard it for the first time in the church on our wedding day! Tell us about the finishing touches like favours, sweet carts etc & name any suppliers & companies that helped make your wedding video by West Sussex Videographers, Ground Films.
Photographer We studied with Becky at University and have since followed her journey to becoming a wedding photographer, setting up Fulton Photography many years ago. Becky captured our day so beautifully with a focus on natural and relaxed poses. She was the first person we booked after we secured our venue and we loved having her capture our story.
Make-up Artist An old school friend Alex who runs her own beauty business, Beauty by Alex, did all the bridesmaids makeup, my mom and myself, everyone looked beautiful! Hair Artist Dale Hollinshead the owner of salon Hazel and Haydn based in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. I met Dale when we first moved up to the Midlands from London and I went for a hair cut at his salon. Such a lovely and friendly guy. On the wedding morning due to the rain forecast i decided at the last minute to have my hair up and it was just perfect. When you trust the people you are working with, it makes all the difference. DJ Paul McGuire the owner of Wedding Jam. We had met Paul before the wedding in Birmingham over a pint to talk about our love of music and what we wanted for reception party, he definitely nailed it! Master of ceremony Hannahs three best friends and bridesmaids, Lizzie, Grace and Lisa, kept the day running to schedule perfectly. Florist Katy from Bloom Collective based in Birmingham. We were introduced to Katy via my bridesmaid Lisa who had been following her on Instagram. We instantly fell in love with her natural style and bold and unusal floral combinations. After our first meeting over coffee in Birmingham one night after work we had a plan: a simple mix of whites and greens with a dark colour pop. We didnt pick individual flowers as I knew Katy would do what she does best if we left her to it and we weren't disappointed. Transport Penkridge Classic Wedding Cars, James and the best man George arrived in a 1965 red Ford Mustang and I arrived with my dad in a beautiful 1937 Daimler EL Limousine. Wedding Cake Our sister-in-law Shelley made our amazing navy and grey cake with gold foil, a perfect match to our colour theme and it tasted delicous aswell. Rings 77 Diamonds, London. What was your favourite part of your wedding video filmed by West Sussex Videographers, Ground Films ? Ahh so many lovely moments, but one's that really stand out are: Trevs beautiful reading in the church, the string duo that played our favourite pieces during our ceremony, James being allowed to drive the red mustang into the reception (revving the engine as loud as he could!!) and even though it rained when we came out of the church, the confetti throw is one of our favourite and happiest moments surrounded by our nearest and dearest. Were there any funny moments that you will always remember in your wedding video filmed by West Sussex Videographers, Ground Films ? So many little moments it's hard to pick just one. Our best friend who had flown from New York just for the wedding weekend and arrived about 30 seconds before I walked down the aisle and then the vicar noting the 'late comers' in the ceremony. Our gorgeous little one year old nephew making his little voice known, when the vicar asked if anyone knew of any reason why we shouldn't be married in the ceremony. Getting totally soaked from the rain and covered from head to toe in confetti outside the church as we welcomed all our family and friends for the first time. Not knowing how to cut a wedding cake until our photographer Becky kindly pointed out what to do and the speeches, where we both laughed so much, the best man's in the particular! A day full of too many laughs to note them all! Why did you choose us, West Sussex Videographers Ground Films to film your wedding and what did you think of your experience being filmed? We chose Ground Films to capture our special day after watching almost all of the films on their website at the time and finding myself crying at most of them!! The way you capture the small details, the atmosphere and all the emotions of the day is really stunning and we wanted those special moments to treasure and watch back for ourselves as we grow old together. Family and friends are so important to us so to be able to capture them with us on the happiest day of lives and be able to look back on it over the years means the world to us.
Our experience of ground films on our wedding was brilliant. You worked so well with our photographer and were so friendly and helpful all day, even encouraging me to have some breakfast on the morning of the wedding! We cannot fault our experience with you at all! Any advice for future wedding couples thinking about having their special day filmed by West Sussex Videographers, Ground Films? The day goes by in a flash and its such a strange little bubble of emotions, it's hard to remember all those lovely small details as the days and months go by after the event. But the day after our wedding we woke up and our first thought was, thank goodness we had it filmed, as we can't wait to see the film and relive it all over again already. Yes it's an extra expense that you may not have budgeted for, like us originally, but it's the one thing we were most excited to receive and we know we will continue to enjoy watching it on our anniversary and sharing it with our family and friends on special occasions for many years to come.
