Jodie and Joe got married at the stunning Coombe Lodge at Blagdon, set in the heart of the countryside a stone’s throw from Bristol in late September 2021.
As Jodie got ready with her sister, mum and bridesmaids in the luxurious bridal suite at Coombe Lodge the birds were chirping in the glorious grounds of Coombe Lodge. Jodie being so incredibly proactive and practical had preprepared little brunch boxes for everyone to enjoy throughout the morning. Ground Films were excited to see that Jodie was calm and relaxed as she got ready, she had meticulously planned this day and could now start to enjoy what was to come…and she had some surprises up her sleeve.
As wedding videographers, we captured the moments that Jodie’s mum and sister helped her make the finishing touches to her look before she walked down the ceremony. Jodie wore a stunning ballgown dress adorned with stunning lace applique, it had an elegant neckline that floated beautifully into off the shoulder sleeves creating the most sophisticated bridal look. She wore her hair in a half up half down hair do, that cascaded with soft curls and was finished off with a stunning sparkly hair piece. Having had a tough start to the year Jodie had focused all her energy into this wedding and it was not going to disappoint.
The venue had the most impressive backdrop of the Mendip Hills and was surrounded by beautifully kept grounds including vegetable patches and a walled courtyard. As wedding videographers, we love to capture these surroundings so the couple can remember the magic of their venue and why they fell in love with it.
Joe got ready with his best men and groomsmen at the other end of the lodge, in their also impressively large and luxurious rooms. He was excited and emotional as he got ready, this day would signify everything in their relationship, and he was eager to tie the knot.
Guests started arriving to the majestic lodge in preparation for the ceremony which would be in held in the most perfect, elegant room that overlooked that impressive view of the grounds and fields beyond. There were flowers galore lining the aisle and a pianist playing on a grand piano. The couple got married with all their friends and family surrounding them, many tears and much laughter coming from their faces as the couple said their vows and declared their love for each other.
Jodie and Joe celebrated with champagne as they joined their guests in the grand garden at the back of the lodge. Inside the ceremony was being transformed into the reception room of Jodie’s dreams with endless candles and stunning florals – even the tequila shots were in keeping with the soft pink colour scheme, Ground Films were sure to capture it all. The table plan was effortlessly written in calligraphy and displayed in gold photo frames. They were placed on top of the grand piano, surrounded by more stunning florals and atmospheric candles.
Just before Jodie and Joe were seated, Ground Films were able to capture some incredible shots of them within the gardens of Coombe Lodge. We firstly had to capture them at the top of the gardens in the middle of the turret like structures that overlooked the walled garden below – it created the most insane backdrop full of greenery and life. With the venue being as spectacular as it is, we were able to capture the newlyweds anywhere and everywhere. Joe had previously said he was being nervous about having photos so we were keen to show him that he just needed to be himself and enjoy some quiet time with Jodie – as soon as he realised this he had nothing to worry about.
The couple soon sat down for speeches from Jodie’s dad, Joes best men and Joe himself. Joe shared an emotional speech that he whole heartedly dedicated to his proud new wife, sharing how much she had supported him through his tough journey over the past few years, as well as recounting memories of the couple adventures together thus far in their relationship. Joes’ best men then brought the laughter to the dinner table, handing out pictures of Joe throughout his life that he would have hoped would never be seen by anyone, ever including him over a toilet naked - lol!! After everyone settled down from the rollercoaster of happy emotions, the wedding party enjoyed an incredible dinner.
After dinner the couple had arranged a photobooth for all their friends to enjoy and capture memories of the day! Soon the couple cut their incredible three-tiered cake and were dancing their first dance. They were accompanied by an incredible saxophonist who stunned faces so much so, guests stopped dancing to watch him perform. As the evening progressed Ground Films captured the couple and their guests with sparklers outside. We had sneakily told everyone to stay outside to get one last group shot but realistically it was all a part of Jodie’s grand plan to surprise both her guests and her new husband with a firework display! Joe was so shocked he jumped a mile when they first started! The fireworks were the perfect way to round off an incredible day full of love, happiness, and lots of tears!
Thank you, Jodie, and Joe, for letting us be a part of a magical celebration.
