Lydia & Jeff's Wedding Film

“You make life easy to live, you make life fun to live and most importantly life happy to live.” – Jeff

Lydia and Jeff tied the knot at Lydia’s family home in Banbury, Oxfordshire and Ground Films were luckily enough to film it. It was a stunningly hot day in mid-September with not a cloud in site. The beautiful cottage had always been the place the pair wanted to get married and it was even more special as it was also the place where Lydia’s brother had got married 11 years prior. The family had created the most beautiful pristine venue by connecting their renovated home to an incredible marquee that expansed the length of the garden. Lydia’s parents had clearly spent a lot of time getting the garden ready for the celebration and it perfectly suited being a wedding venue with festoon lighting and plenty of sweet seating areas.

Lydia and Jeff started their romance when they matched on the dating app ‘Plenty of Fish’. Lydia had moved to Hove with friends and Jeff lived in Rottingdean in Brighton. Having amazing examples of love around them with Jeff’s parents being together for 27 years, Lydia’s parents being together for 42 years and their grandparents 66 years exactly together on the day Lydia and Jeff tied the knot, the couple could recognise how special their bond was from an early stage.

As West Sussex wedding videographers we captured Lydia getting ready at her family home with her nine bridesmaids. The house was full of hustle and bustle as everyone prepared for the ceremony. Lydia’s parents were making sure everyone was fed and had coffee and tea as they put on a large spread for brunch. Lydia’s hair was in a beautiful half up half down hairstyle with free-flowing curls that complimented her stunning tulle ballgown dress with delicate lace embellishment on the bodice that subtly cascaded down her dress. You can see these stunning details throughout their wedding film.

As Lydia got ready to walk down the aisle, Jeff was ready waiting at the top with his groomsmen dressed in a dapper navy-blue suit adorned with a grey waistcoat and pale pink tie to match the bridesmaids. As award winning wedding videographers, we were ready to capture the joy of the ceremony. The ceremony was packed with chairs expanding into the quaint courtyard – it is safe to say Jeff and Lydia are definitely popular. The ceremony included two beautiful readings performed by Jeffs dad and Lydia’s sister-in-law which you can hear throughout their wedding film. The ceremony also included lots of squeals from the couples excited pooch who desperately wanted to see his mum and dad at the top of the aisle. After the couple got married the celebrant performed a story for all the kids to explain what just happened which was really sweet and unique - with a lot of kids being a part of the couple’s family this was so lovely and personal.

The couple had two ceremonies, after this one with their whole wedding party they drove in an E type classic Jaguar to a church just down the road for a small intimate ceremony with their immediate family. The church meant a lot to them as Lydia’s great grandfather had built it and they had lots of memories associated with the church. This was also such a lovely personal touch to their wedding day making it truly unique.

The couple basked in the sun with their friends as they enjoyed celebratory drinks. Wedding videographers, Ground Films then captured some stunning shots of the couple before dinner in the family’s local village which had a beautiful canal running through it with endless fields encompassing it. You can see these incredible shots throughout their wedding film above.

The couple then sat down for dinner, and Lydia being an interior designer had made the reception look stunning with flower walls, wedding signs and unique wedding favours based off of the table names – as award wedding videographers we love to capture these details that Lydia spent hours of time meticulously planning. She had decorated the place from top to toe with help from her family and friends: DIYing table plans, creating paintings and vacuuming the marquee floor all to ensure the space was perfect for Lydia and Jeffs big day.

After dinner the speeches were performed by Lydia’s Dad, Jeff and his best man. Jeff shared many memories of the couple’s travel adventures and spoke heart-warming words about his new wife – which are all included in their wedding film. After the speeches Jeff had arranged a surprise for Lydia organising singing waiters – everyone was up on their feet, and this was the perfect way to get the party started. Soon after, the couple had their first dance and partied the night away with their friends and family – interspersing the night with cocktails, artisan pizza and traditional ice cream from an ice cream truck. The day was perfect and as Ground Films were incredibly lucky to capture it all!
