Sofia & Charlie, married at New Place Wedding Venue in Southampton after a beautiful ceremony at their local church.

The pair met at college when they were 17, through a friend. Charlie, being new to the friendship group, thought Sofia was really welcoming and of course stunning, whilst Sofia thought Charlie had an awful fashion sense but that he was lovely and it was envitable after years of dating the question was about to be popped…

Charlie proposed to Sofia in Weston Supermare. He bought the ring in Dubai on his first naval deployment and left it on the ship. They then went away during his post deployment leave to Weston, where it poured down all day leaving poor Charlie little chance to catch the perfect moment. Eventually he asked Sofia to go for a walk in the evening but it was so stormy she thought he was joking and crazy for wanting to go out in it. In the end after the carrying the ring around all day, he actually proposed in their hotel room and of course it was perfect.

It is always a hot topic for us hampshire wedding videographers to see the dress and we were NOT disappointed, Sofia’s wedding dress was by Pronovias. “I was still unsure of it all the way up to the wedding day! I tried on 60+ dresses and I’m the most indecisive person I know! It was nothing like Charlie expected, but the look on his face when he saw me in it for the first time made all the worrying melt away”

The Groomsmen wore suits they rented from Moss Bros, apparently the ties and pocket squares were a never ending search for the right shade of sage green to match the bridesmaid dresses they had ordered online but I think they did a fab job.

The biggest surprise on the night was for Sofia, as all of her friends and bridal party had a secret flashmob dance. “Charlie had been using a variety of excuses to get away and rehearse since January! He had gone ‘to watch many football matches’ and even ‘cleared moss off his grandma’s roof’ at one point! (Much to my annoyance at the time as the wedding was creeping up quickly and I was left to sort things out on my own, unbeknown to me what was really going on!)” I have to say the funniest thing we have ever captured in our wedding videos in Hampshire, has to be Charlie ripping his trousers from his bum to his leg as he ‘slut dropped’ for Sofia during the rehearsed surprise dance, it was so funny and everyone was in stitches.

The couple chose some lovely readings in their ceremony, one being Corinthians, which they felt really related to them, with Charlie being in the Navy, it had meant they had to have patience over the years and been tested quite a lot. This was the same for the 'duet' reading. The military lifestyle brings a lot of challenges and they embarked on this at just 20 years old. 5 years later, and with a 3rd long deployment ahead of them in September, they have overcome a lot in this time and grown together rather than apart.
